Shanda Mallory

Hello! My name is Shanda Mallory and I am the Director of Nursing at Beach House Assisted Living & Memory Care. I was born and raised in Houston, TX but relocated to Algona, IA, when I was 15. After high school, I completed my RN and BSN at Briar Cliff University. I am also halfway to completing my MSN in Nursing Leadership. I have been a nurse for 7 years, but I have been working with the senior population since I was 16. Even before then, I spent my summers with my mom at the nursing home where she worked at. I would keep myself occupied by reading to the residents, playing BINGO with the residents, and sneaking the residents’ snacks from the vending machine. Choosing nursing as a career came naturally to me and I never considered another line of work.

In July 2022 I relocated to Jacksonville, FL, from Algona, IA, with my husband and twin 6-year-old boys. I wanted to be near the ocean, and somewhere it didn’t snow. The facility I worked for in Iowa was a community that was also owned by Foster Senior Living, much like Beach House Assisted Living & Memory Care. I worked as the DON at that facility for 2.5 years before relocating to where I am now. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. Most recently we have been spending a lot of time at the beach! I look forward to getting to know the staff and residents and hearing how I can help to improve patient care.
